We will look at what cat-friendly interactions are and the current evidence and resources available for veterinary professionals on this topic. We will discuss how applying cat-friendly techniques in the consult room aids with examinations and procedures and can help improve clinical outcomes of feline patients, whilst keeping the veterinary team safe and building trust with caregivers. Each cat and situation are different, so we will be thinking creatively and practically while examining some case-studies of how to troubleshoot and manage individual cats that are emotionally challenged when presented in the consulting room.

- Summarise the fundamentals of cat friendly interactions

- Describe how cat friendly interactions benefit veterinary professionals at the clinic

- Explain how cat-friendly interactions contribute to improved welfare and better clinical outcomes for cats

-Demonstrate troubleshooting skills for effectively managing emotionally challenged or distressed cats presented at the clinic

Chairperson

John Beel, Clinical Services Director - Medivet
Speakers

Alexandra Taylor, Cat Wellbeing and Behaviour Advisor - International Cat Care (RVN)

Presented at BVA Live 2025

12 Jun 2025

16:45 - 17:35

Clinical Theatre 2

Please note this session is not RACE-approved, but you can still earn a CPD certificate

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1000/1992/9374/files/cat-friendly-interactions---avoiding-cat-astrophes-at-the-clinic_1.png?v=1791942210
https://upcycledstylewear.shop/products/cat-friendly-interactions-avoiding-cat-astrophes-at-the-clinic
